Cintiq Companion 2 Driver Update: A Concern for Digital Artists

As digital artists, my girlfriend and I are always on the lookout for innovative tools that can enhance our creative workflow. Recently, we've been considering purchasing a portable Tablet-PC, specifically the Wacom Cintiq Companion 2. However, upon closer inspection, we've discovered some concerns that have left us scratching our heads.

One of the major issues is the price gap between the Cintiq Companion 2 and other tablet PCs on the market. At $600 more than its competitors, it's hard to justify the extra cost without significant improvements in performance or features. Another concern is the fact that the device is equipped with an Intel Core i5 processor and Intel HD graphics, which may not be sufficient for demanding applications like Photoshop, Illustrator, and Maya.

We're also worried about the lack of compatibility between our Wacom pens and the Surface Pro 2. While we love our Intuos/Cintiq pen styles, it appears that we'd have to purchase an additional pen or use the one provided by Microsoft, which has received mixed reviews. This is a significant inconvenience for us, as our workflow relies heavily on precise control and accuracy.

Furthermore, we're skeptical about the device's gaming capabilities, particularly given the Intel HD graphics. The Microsoft website claims that the Surface Pro can play games like Civilization V and The Elder Scrolls Online, which seems unlikely to us. As digital artists, we're more interested in using our tablet PC for creative applications rather than gaming.

In light of these concerns, we're wondering if Intel HD graphics are sufficient enough to run demanding programs like Photoshop, Illustrator, or Maya. While the Cintiq Companion 2 has its advantages, such as its high-resolution display and comfortable design, we need reassurance that it can handle our specific workflow requirements.

As digital artists who primarily work with Adobe Creative Suite applications, we're looking for a tablet PC that can keep up with our demands. We've been researching various options, but the Cintiq Companion 2's pricing and specs have left us hesitant.
